The Suspension Bridge

The suspension bridge over the River Indalsälven between Österede and Edesmoarna was built 1914.
Its total length is 109 metres and it was designed to create a permanent, safe link between the villages on both side of the river.

It used to be frequently used by the locals, mainly children who went to school on the south side of the river. Eventually, the bridge fell into disuse and was neglected for many years.

In 2006, enthusiasts formed an association and, thanks to grants from the EU and local companies, they were able to renovate the bridge.

It is now a pleasant place for a picnic and is a part of a hiking trail system that takes you to the DeadFalls, among other places.

You can access the bridge from Road 87 in Österede or from Edesmoarna (signed).
